Canada Super Visa New Minimum Income Requirement 2023. Canadian permanent residents and citizens to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada to stay for up to 5 years

Hey everyone, did you know that the IRCC has updated the minimum required income for Canada super visa on May 2, 2023? This update includes an increase of more than 3.33% when compared to the previous minimum income requirement.

The Canada Super Visa allows Canadian permanent residents and citizens to bring their parents or grandparents to Canada to stay for up to 5 years, with the possibility of a 2-year extension afterward.

Check out the chart below for the new minimum gross income requirement for 2023 based on family size:

1 person (your child or grandchild): $27,514

2 persons: $34,254

3 persons: $42,100

4 persons: $51,128

5 persons: $57,988

6 persons: $65,400

7 persons: $72,814

More than 7 persons, for each additional person, add $7,412

Remember, this minimum necessary income requirement is based on T4/T1 for the most recent tax year “OR” the Notice of Assessment (NOA).

The super visa is an excellent alternative to the parents and grandparents' program (PGP), which only accepts a limited number of people for permanent residency. The super visa allows for multiple entries that are valid for ten years and permits holders to stay in Canada for five years on each entry.

For those interested in applying for the super visa, you can use documents such as the Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year, employment insurance benefit statements, employment letters, pay stubs, or bank statements as proof of funds.

It is also important to note that the processing time for the super visa varies by country of nationality. For example, as of May 2, 2023, the processing time for parents or grandparents from India is around 55 days (about 2 months), while for Nigeria, it is 708 days (about 2 years).

Lastly, it is essential to remember that the super visa cannot be applied from within Canada, and you cannot work on it while in Canada. However, you can apply for an extension of an additional 2 years before the end of your 5-year stay duration.
