Know 12 Canada Permanent Residency Paths With Investment

Canada is a popular destination for immigrants due to its high standard of living, welcoming culture, and excellent healthcare system. Fortunately, the Canadian government offers several investment immigration programs that allow foreign nationals to obtain permanent residency (PR) through investment. In this article, we will explore the twelve investment pathways for Canada PR and what each program requires.

  1. Intra-Company Transfer Canada's Intra-Company Transfer Visa is the closest replacement for the now-discontinued Owner/Operator LMIA investment immigration program. This federal program allows international entrepreneurs to expand their operations in Canada or establish a new business in Canada, becoming a senior company executive and obtaining an LMIA-exempt work visa. After a year of successfully conducting business in Canada, applicants may submit a permanent residency application.
  2. C11 Entrepreneur Stream The C11 Entrepreneur Stream is another federal immigration program that falls under the International Mobility Program. It allows people who want to start a new business in Canada or invest in an existing one to use this particular stream. Successful applicants can apply for permanent residency after operating their business for a year.
  3. LMIA-Based Work Permits Investors, business owners, and entrepreneurs can apply for LMIA-Based Work Permits to enter Canada and work. Applicants may use a work permit based on the LMIA and serve as managers for either their own companies or other Canadian corporations in Canada. They may apply for permanent residence in a full-time position after two years of employment.
  4. British Columbia-BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration British Columbia has two alternatives under the BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration program for those seeking permanent residence in Canada through investment. Applicants may start or buy a business in British Columbia and apply for permanent residency upon fulfilling the requirements of their business performance agreement, usually within 18 to 20 months (about 1 and a half years).
  5. Alberta Immigration Programs In Alberta, creating a new business or buying an existing one will qualify you for permanent residency, just like other Business PNPs. There are three AAIP entrepreneur immigration programs: the Rural Entrepreneur Stream, Graduate Entrepreneur Stream, and Farm Stream.
  6. Ontario Entrepreneur Stream The OINP Entrepreneur Stream is a program Ontario offers business owners and entrepreneurs who want to start, buy, and run a business there. Once the conditions of the performance agreement have been satisfactorily met, candidates may apply for permanent residency.
  7. Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Stream For investors, company owners, and entrepreneurs, Saskatchewan offers three investment-focused immigration programs: the SINP Entrepreneur Category, SINP International Graduate Entrepreneur Category, and SINP Farm Owner and Operator Category.
  8. Manitoba Entrepreneur Pathways There are two routes for international entrepreneurs and investors to obtain permanent residency in Canada through Manitoba's Business Investor Stream: the MPNP Entrepreneur Pathway and MPNP Farm Investor Pathway.
  9. New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream People who want to start and run a business in New Brunswick should apply to the New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream. After one year of effectively running their firm, applicants can submit a permanent residence application.
  10. Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Programs Nova Scotia has two investment immigration pathways for investors, business owners, and entrepreneurs who want to obtain permanent residence by investment in Canada: the NSNP Entrepreneur Category and NSNP International Graduate Entrepreneur Category.
  11. PEI PNP Business Impact Category Through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, people who want to manage and invest in Prince Edward Island businesses can benefit from the Work Permit stream of business immigration (PEI PNP).
  12. Québec Investor Programs Québec offers three options for immigration: the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, Quebec Entrepreneur Program, and Quebec Self-Employed Worker Program.

In conclusion, Canada offers multiple investment pathways for permanent residency. It is essential to consult a licensed business immigration professional before starting or investing in a business in Canada.
