Starting April 30, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is implementing fee increases for certain permanent residence (PR) applications. These adjustments align with Canada’s Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations and are based on the cumulative percentage increase to the Consumer Price Index for Canada.

Here are the notable changes:

  1. Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPR):

    • Principal applicant and accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $575 (up from $515)
  2. Federal Skilled Workers, Provincial Nominee Program, Quebec Skilled Workers, Atlantic Immigration Class, and most economic pilots (Rural, Agri-Food):

    • Principal applicant: $950 (up from $850)
    • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $950 (up from $850)
    • Accompanying dependent child: $260 (up from $230)
  3. Live-in Caregiver Program and caregivers pilots (Home Child Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot):

    • Principal applicant: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying dependent child: $175 (up from $155)
  4. Business (federal and Quebec):

    • Principal applicant: $1,810 (up from $1,625)
    • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $950 (up from $850)
    • Accompanying dependent child: $260 (up from $230)
  5. Family reunification (spouses, partners, children, parents, grandparents, and other relatives):

    • Sponsorship fee: $85 (up from $75)
    • Sponsored principal applicant: $545 (up from $490)
    • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying dependent child: $175 (up from $155)
  6. Protected persons:

    • Principal applicant: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying dependent child: $175 (up from $155)
  7. Humanitarian and compassionate consideration / Public policy:

    • Principal applicant: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: $635 (up from $570)
    • Accompanying dependent child: $175 (up from $155)
  8. Permit holders:

    • Principal applicant: $375 (up from $335)

Note that dependent children and protected persons, including principal applicants and all accompanying family members, are exempt from paying the Right of Permanent Residence (RPR) Fee. Additionally, certain categories of applicants, such as sponsored children and principal applicants under humanitarian and compassionate consideration and public policy classes, may be exempt from the RPR fee under specific circumstances.
